National Village Hall survey launched

Rural Charity Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) releases a comprehensive survey to 10,000 village halls once every ten years.

ACRE will use the data collected to help secure funding for halls, to ensure that advice and information adapts to the challenges facing volunteer hall committees and that the ACRE Network can continue to provide the very best support.

ACRE wants to hear from all kinds of community buildings, the survey is aimed at traditional village halls as well as community centres, sports pavilions, church halls, churches providing community use, community centres, Miners Welfare Institutes, WI halls and community pubs providing meeting rooms.

ACRE’s previous surveys carried out in 1988, 1998 and 2009 paved the way for essential license changes, informing policy and securing the recent £3m improvement grant fund, which has been hinted by MP Robert Jenrick may continue “If we can provide the evidence.”
