Bring Your Community Together with a Techy Tea Party
4th Dec 2024
As part of the Rural Digital Inclusion project, CAN and the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise (NICRE) are partnering with village halls across Northumberland to host Techy Tea Parties—fun, informal events that combine technology support with a friendly cuppa and chat.
What are Techy Tea Parties?
These one-off events provide local residents with advice and support on using technology and getting online. They’re perfect for the new year, a time when many people may have received new devices for Christmas or might be eager to learn new skills, set up helpful apps, or explore online courses.
What’s involved in hosting a Techy Tea Party?
Your role as a host is simple:
- Provide a space with Wi-Fi access and basic facilities to prepare tea and coffee.
- Help promote the event locally.
And that’s it! CAN and NICRE, supported by trained volunteer Digital Champions, will handle everything else, including covering the cost of refreshments.
Why host a Techy Tea Party?
- Fully supported: We’ll take care of the planning, delivery, and costs—you just provide the venue.
- Engage your community: Attract more people to your hall and showcase what you offer.
- Test new opportunities: Thinking about offering digital support locally? This is a no-commitment way to gauge interest and potentially attract new volunteers to help develop a service.
Event Details
Techy Tea Parties will take place between January and March 2025, lasting a couple of hours each.
