CAN welcomes familiar face Marc Johnson

A familiar face has rejoined CAN, welcome back to Marc Johnson.

Marc first worked for CAN between 2006 and 2014 as a Community Development Officer and was based in the North of the county. Alongside the generic community development work, Marc specialised in broadband and digital issues. Prior to working for CAN the first time he was a Rural Transport Partnership Officer at Northumberland County Council and had a hand in developing a number of community transport projects.

Marc’s most recent work was at Northumberland CVA where he provided VCSE groups with advice on a wide range of topics including governance, funding and project development.

Marc joins CAN as a Community Development Officer with a focus on four areas of work. Co-ordinating the development of the Warm Hubs scheme; developing a new ‘Digital Village Halls’ project; supporting the Community Buildings Service; and keeping a watching brief on other rural issues, including transport, with a view to influencing policy and supporting action.

Marc said “It’s great to be back at CAN and I can’t wait to get out and about to see first-hand the fantastic contribution volunteers are making to their communities.”
