CAN seeks new Community Development Officer

These are exciting times at CAN – but we need help to make sure we deliver!

We are creating a new Community Development Officer post to develop, deliver and manage a range of projects and activities. This will include:

  • The Warm Hubs programme in Northumberland.
  • Our emerging Digital Village Halls project.
  • Supporting CAN’s wider village halls work.
  • Developing new areas of work, as agreed (e.g. rural transport initiatives).

Northumberland’s Warm Hubs have been running since 2015, benefitting thousands of residents each your through over 40 venues. Northern Gas Networks are funding us to make sure the programme expands and goes from strength to strength.

Out Digital Village Halls initiative is developing in partnership with Newcastle University through NICRE (the National Innovation Centre for Rural Enterprise) and aims to help meet digital inclusion aspirations, capitalising on major infrastructure investment in the county.

We are also looking for someone who can provide some back up to our Village Halls Adviser following the recent retirement of Louise Currie – and someone who can have an eye to other rural needs where CAN could play a positive role in making a difference.

Does this sound like you?

If so, please read the job information and make your application.

If a chat would be helpful, please email to arrange a time to speak on the telephone.

The closing date for applications is noon on Wednesday 17 April 2024. Interviews will be held at our Pegswood offices on Wednesday 24 April 2024.

Good luck!
