CLAYPORT
YOUTH WORK
The Northumberland Children’s Fund (NCF) was administered by the charity NCH, on behalf of the Government’s Children and Young People’s Unit, to provide a flexible and responsive approach to meeting the needs of children, young people and their families. Priority was being given to those at risk of social exclusion, within some of the more socially-disadvantaged areas of the county. The NCF arranged for Community Action Northumberland to work with young people in the age range 5 to 13 years, and their families and the wider community, to identify problems and opportunities, to overcome barriers and disadvantage, and to achieve their fuller potential.
Community Action appointed Colette Barker as an Outreach and Development Worker, to work within Clayport ward, in Alnwick. Regrettably, since the funding came to an end in March 2006, the project has now closed.
