Hi  I would like to introduce myself - my name is Shaun Hogg and I am the new community development officer for West Northumberland.

I was born and raised in the Tynedale area of rural Northumberland. In 1990 I moved to Scotland where I lived in rural Perthshire, Argyll and the Scottish Borders.

My previous experience includes working in local authority in the fields of Mental Health and learning disabilities (community support). This entailed helping vulnerable people to live independently in their own community, and enable them to access community resources and services with minimal support.

I have also owned and managed a rural Post Office and village store.

Prior to joining CAN I was employed as a Development worker for a local charitable organisation in Hexham,  working to improve services to people who have a learning disability.

I returned to Northumberland eighteen months ago and I am still reacquainting myself with the area and the many people I have not seen for quite some time.

My interests include property renovation, walking, swimming and reading.
