The ACRE network consists of 38 Rural Community Councils throughout England.  RCCs are charitable local development agencies, generally based in counties, which support and enable initiatives in rural communities.

RCCs are part of formal or informal regional networks that facilitate and coordinate activities on a regional basis .  link to these regions:

What are Rural Community Councils?

 



Rural Community Councils (RCCs) are county-based, charitable, local development agencies, which work towards improving the quality of life of local communities and disadvantaged people in the rural areas of
England, through providing support, information and practical guidance on improving rural services.  Each RCC provides support and advice to rural communities and organisations, whilst also acting as a stronger and more effective voice for the communities they serve.

 

Based in 7 areas:

  • West Midlands Community Council Network (WMCCN)
  • Rural Action East
  • South East Rural Community Councils (SERCC)
  • South West ACRE Network (SWAN)
  • Yorkshire and the Humber
  • North East and North West, 


    Rural Community Councils can offer:

  • Funding sources and advice on funding bids, including grant programmes
  • Support and advice for village hall committees
  • Expertise and practical support to develop community capacity
  • Help to strengthen parish councils
  • Encourage good practice through sharing experiences with other local community successes and activities.
